Across the street from the east gate of the Temple of Heaven, Hongqiao Pearl
Market is a good place to buy some souvenirs or gifts. Hongqiao, also known as the Pearl Market, has just about everything
from electronics, binoculars, watches, to men's and women's clothing, purses, fans, silk, shoes, handicrafts, and
pearls. Beijingers shop here, as well as tourists. Bargaining is essential; definitely fierce, but friendly.
It is not unheard of for locals to gather around you and cheer you on. Keep a smile on your face, and have a good time.

Hongqiao is best know for its pearls. Freshwater, seawater, every
size, shape and color; the quantity is overwhelming and the quality varies by stall. The highest quality pearls are sold on
the fourth floor. Look for the pictures of well-known people who have shopped here. There is a great view of the Temple of
Heaven from the top floor.
