| Bronze Lion , Lama Temple |
One of Beijing's most beautiful and interesting temples, the Lama
Temple (Yonghegong) is definitely worth a visit. Yonghegong (Palace of Eternal Harmony) was
built in 1694, as a residence for eunuchs of high rank. It then became the official residence of Prince
Yin Zhen, a son of Emperor Kangxi, before he became Emperor Yongzheng in 1723.

Still an active temple, many local people come here to pray. Photography is not allowed inside the
imperial, yellow-tiled temple buildings, but there are many photo opportunities in this huge temple complex. Take your time
to experience the feel of this spectacular place.

After visiting the Lama Temple, also consider visiting the Confucius
Temple and the hutongs around it. The temple is a short, five minute walk through a hutong. Another
possibility that is close by is Ditan Park. Here you have the opportunity to relax or participate
in traditional Beijing park activities.
