Chairman Mao's Portrait On Tian'anmen Gate Tower

Tian'anmen (Gate of Heavenly Peace) Square is the largest public square in the world. This massive square is surrounded by some of the most impressive building in Beijing. Yet, Tian'anmen Square is alive with the activity of
ordinary Beijingers and visitors alike. On any given day you will see kites flying, local people exercising, children playing games, and people from all over the world having their pictures taken. This is the center of Beijing. Travel north, south, east or west from Tian'anmen Square, and you will be able to visit the most well-known and important places in the city.

The size of ninety American football fields, Tian'anmen Square is surrounded by the Forbidden City on the north, the Great Hall of the People on the west, the Museum of Chinese History on the east, and Qianmen Gate and Arrow Tower on the south. Within the Square itself, Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall and the Monument to the People's Heroes are both located here.
