Located very close to many of the most important historical sites in Beijing, the Silk Market (Xiushui) is a good place to do some one-stop shopping for gifts and souvenirs. This six-story building is said to have 1,700 vendors and 3,000 sales people. Opened in March of 2005, it replaced the old Silk Alley Market which had operated for over twenty years.

A Little of Everything is Offered at the Silk Market (Xiushui)
|
Thousands of people visit the Silk Market on any given day. It is absolutely essential that you bargain hard here, which really is half the fun. Remember that anything you buy must be worth what you really want to pay for it. We would advise you not to pay more than one-third of the first asking price, and many of our travelers have paid considerably less. A key rule to bargaining in China is to always smile. Enjoy! |
