One of Beijing's most beautiful and interesting temples, the Lama Temple (Yonghegong) is definitely worth a visit. Yonghegong (Palace of Eternal Harmony) was built in 1694, as a residence for eunuchs of high rank. It then became the official residence of Prince Yin Zhen, a son of Emperor Kangxi, before he became Emperor Yongzheng in 1723. |

After visiting the Lama Temple, also consider visiting the Confucius Temple and the hutongs around it. The temple is a short, five minute walk through a hutong. Another possibility that is close by is Ditan Park. Here you have the opportunity to relax or participate in traditional Beijing park activities. |
